Environmental policy

King Sturge operates from an office network across Europe. It fully recognises that its activities impact the environment and aims to develop a continuous improvement programme working towards sustainability.

As a leading property consultant King Sturge LLP is committed to minimising, as far as reasonably possible, its adverse environmental impact and maximising the opportunities to enhance the environment. These principles are applied to both those impacts we control and those we influence through advice given to clients.

We are committed to the prevention of pollution and to environmental enhancement. We accept our Duty of Care responsibilities and aim to comply with legal requirements and standards. In order to achieve this level of excellence, we are fully integrating our environmental policy into our business through the development of an improvement programme.

A set of Environmental Protocols is in place across the whole of our office network. To support our commitment to continual improvement, and where we control facilities management, we are developing and implementing an EMS in line with ISO14001 and aim to gain certification on a site by site basis, initially in the UK. In addition to aiming for improvement within our own network of offices, King Sturge LLP also provide environmental support to our clients through our designated Environmental Sustainability Group..

We are committed to managing our environmental impacts through the adoption of objectives and complimentary targets. Our overarching objectives are:

  • Minimising our contribution to climate change through the reduction of energy used in our offices;
  • Promoting the use of conference-calling within business, and incentivising alternative forms of transport for travel to work;
  • Encouraging the efficient use of natural resources, including water and materials, in our day to day work, and using recycled products where possible;
  • Reducing our waste streams through the adoption of the waste hierarchy;
  • Managing our environmental risks through rigorous contracts with suppliers and contractors;
  • Monitoring and supplying building services in as efficient a manner as possible, where we have direct responsibility for facilities management;
  • Developing the environmental focus to the services that we provide our clients.

King Sturge LLP is increasing staff awareness of environmental matters by providing information, training and support to employees. All employees are encouraged to support the objectives laid out above.

Direct responsibility for improving environmental performance and managing the environmental systems in line with future IS014001 certification lies with our CSR Environment Group. This Group has ultimate responsibility for implementing this policy across our business and for reporting the performance of King Sturge LLP to the Senior Partner with lead responsibility for Environment.

King Sturge continues to develop awareness of environmental matters by providing information, training and support for employees.
