International interest for Minrec sale

07 July 2008

This is the third sale of contractors equipment that King Sturge has undertaken on behalf of the Perthshire based firm

A sale of coal mining machinery, including Caterpillar dump trucks and bulldozers, has seen lively interest with inquiries coming in from all over the globe.

King Sturge Plant Machinery, who is selling the items, expect them to fetch at least £2 million and anticipate that they will probably be sold to overseas buyers.

This is the third sale of contractors equipment which King Sturge has undertaken on behalf of Perthshire based Minrec Ltd. The previous sales also saw demand from foreign buyers.

For this latest sale interest has already been registered by potential buyers in Australia, the USA and South Africa.

The sale includes some of Caterpillars largest dump trucks, the 777D and 777B, along with Caterpillar D9R  and D8R bulldozers, a Caterpillar 16H motor grader and O&K RH120C face shovel and backhoe.

The equipment is currently being used by Minrec Ltd’s contractors working at the site of the former open cast coal mine at Polkemmet, West Lothian.

Gordon Calder, partner at King Sturge in Glasgow, said “We are delighted to receive this instruction.  This is the final phase of the disposal process, having already undertaken two previous disposals for Minrec Ltd.

“We again expect the majority of larger items of plant to go abroad and have received enquiries from Australia, South Africa and the USA.

“Expectations are expected to exceed £2 million. In addition to the private treaty sale, we hope hold an online auction sale of the site vehicles and equipment around September.
