King Sturge launches Pan European CSR Policy
01 February 2007
King Sturge Corporate Social Responsibility new framework has seven key areas – the CSR Pillars
King Sturge launches its new Pan European Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) structure, following a detailed review today.
The new CSR structure builds upon the existing framework to ensure that King Sturge continues to incorporate ethical values, respect for people, communities and the natural environment into its culture, strategy and business activities.
A new CSR Steering Group has been set up, chaired up by Richard Batten, Joint Senior Partner at King Sturge. It is supported by a network of CSR Co-ordinators from each of the offices across the whole of the King Sturge UK and European network.
Richard Batten commenting on why this is the right time to launch such an initiative and what it means to the company, said:
“Environmental Sustainability is one of the most dynamic areas in the property world. At King Sturge we have put in place a structure to ensure that we continue to give our clients the best possible advice and guidance to meet this increasingly complex challenge. Much discussion has been stimulated by the publication of the Stern Review and other environmental studies, and now is the right time to act. We will do this by calling on representatives in each office to implement it, and are working with clients and suppliers to offer best practice where possible.”
Seven areas of engagement have been identified and established – The King Sturge CSR Pillars – these seven areas to address include:
Business Ethics
Charity
Client Relations
Community Relations
Environment
Supplier Relations
Our People
In addition to the above general policy, we have also established a new Environmental Sustainability Group (ESG). This is also chaired by Richard Batten, the Joint Senior Partner and includes leaders from each of the other business groups across King Sturge.
The main objectives of the ESG is to work with clients to meet the challenges that environmental sustainability matters are bringing to the property market. Current projects for members of the ESG include developing ‘The Key Principles of Sustainable Development’ with the Urban Land Institute and working with market leading clients on implementing environmental sustainability initiatives across a diverse portfolio.
King Sturge is currently in the process of obtaining ISO 14001, the environmental management system. As part of the new CSR structure, revised Environmental Protocols are being issued to all offices across the Pan European King Sturge business network.
